Fairmont Hotel (formerly the Grunewald) - New Orleans

  • One of the first American cocktails, the Sazerac was created in New Orleans by Antoine Peychaud and named after his favourite French brandy, Sazerac de Forge et Fils. The Grunewald Hotel was built in 1893 and subsequently earned the exclusive rights to serve the Sazerac. In 1965 the hotel was renamed the Fairmont Hotel.
