Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
50ml gin
1 teaspoon dry vermouth
cocktail olive, to garnish

Method

  1. Shake or stir (depending on preference or 00 status) the gin and vermouth with ice cubes, then strain into a martini glass. Garnish with a cocktail olive.

Sip and savour

  • A three-martini lunch à la Mad Men may seem like a good idea. But if you’re a cocktail novice it most certainly is not. It will get you very drunk, very quickly and in a manner that is entirely unpleasant. Cocktails such as martinis are relatively short drinks that pack one hell of a punch. So go easy. One every forty-five minutes or so is about right.
