You can serve this for dessert with M’hanncha but it is also delicious with simple cold meats or cheese.

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
150g dried figs, roughly chopped
300g pears, cored and cut into small pieces
1 cinnamon stick
2 tablespoons caster sugar
1 large orange, juiced
150ml cold water

Method

  1. Place all the ingredients into a saucepan. Add the 150ml water and simmer over low heat, stirring occasionally and adding a little extra water if the mixture is too dry, for about 30–40 minutes until the mixture thickens to a soft and sticky consistency.
  2. Allow to cool before using. This will keep in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
