In the autumn, a baking tin filled with the most wonderful baked apple wedges is a longstanding family favourite. The apples are just as good when eaten warm, lukewarm or even cold the next day.

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
100g butter, at room temperature
120g almonds
8 red apples
100g caster sugar
50g desiccated coconut
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
50g raisins
vanilla ice cream, for serving

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C. Grease a large baking tin with some of the butter. Roughly chop the almonds.
  2. Halve and core the apples, then cut each half into 3-4 wedges. Place them higgledy-piggledy in the baking tin and sprinkle with the sugar, coconut, cinnamon, raisins and almonds. Dot the remaining butter on top.
  3. Bake for about 25 minutes. As the apples are baking, the kitchen fills with an enticing aroma. Serve these delicious apples with vanilla ice cream.
