Don’t be freaked out by the amount of butter in this mash. It’s rich and indulgent, the way mash is supposed to be!

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
5 large floury potatoes, peeled and quartered
50g unsalted butter
white pepper
80ml full cream milk

Method

  1. In a large saucepan over high heat, bring 750 ml salted water to the boil. Add the potatoes and cook until tender, about 15 minutes. Strain the potatoes then return them to the saucepan. Add the butter and, using a masher, mash the potatoes until the butter is melted and combined. Season with salt and white pepper. Slowly add the milk and continue to mash until the mixture is smooth and the desired consistency.
