Channa Dassanayaka's Story

Chef Channa Dassanayaka was born in Colombo, Sri Lanka and spent a lot of his childhood with his grandmother in the rural village of Ehliyagoda. He attended the Ceylon Hotel School, before moving for work to Oman and Germany, and then returned to Sri Lanka to continue his training and work at the Colombo Hilton. Civil unrest saw him move to Australia to open the well-respected Woodapple Sri Lankan restaurant. Channa has been involved in the establishment of Sigiri and works with Melbourne restaurateur Dur-e Dara in her various restaurants.
