Now that you know that you need lots of magnesium to support your nervous system, you will be elated to know that chocolate – good-quality of course – is an incredibly rich source of magnesium. There is a god!!

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
8 tablespoons mixed seeds, (flax, pumpkin, sesame, sunflower and so on)
3 handfuls goji berries
handful pitted dates
4 tablespoons cocoa powder
1 teaspoon desiccated coconut
200g 70–80 per cent cocoa solids chocolate
3 tablespoons coconut oil

Method

  1. Place all the ingredients, except the chocolate and coconut oil, into a food processor, and pulse a few times to create a stiff, coarse paste.
  2. Spoon the coconut oil into a glass bowl, then sit the glass bowl in some freshly boiled water. In a matter of seconds the oil will melt. Add the melted oil to the food processor, then process the ingredients on high power until all have thoroughly mixed into a smooth firm paste.
  3. Line a small cake tin or flan dish (about 25 cm in diameter) with cling film, scrape in the paste and press down firmly to completely fill it.
  4. Break the chocolate into small pieces into a heatproof bowl. Set over a pan of boiled water (taken off the heat) and melt slowly. Drizzle the melted chocolate over the top of the paste.
  5. Place in the fridge for three hours, until set firm. Slice into about six even pieces (double quantity shown here).
