There is definitely an assumption in the weird and wonderful world of health and nutrition that meat is super unhealthy. The number of glossy magazines, websites and forums that warn us to keep away from it at all costs is unbelievable.

While consuming it for three meals a day, seven days a week is definitely not going to do you any favours, it is still an important dietary inclusion. Now, if people decide not to eat meat from a moral point of view, then I could and would not argue against them, as it is a very clear and valid ethical stance. If, on the other hand, people avoid it in a quest to be healthier, that’s a different story. Meat can give us a broad spectrum of vital minerals, such as haem iron, zinc and selenium. A few meat meals a week will give you vast amounts of nutrients packed into a small serving. You could view it as a flavoursome nutritional supplement in a healthy diet.
