This is a lovely perky dish that can work perfectly on its own or with some rice noodles or quinoa.

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
olive oil, for cooking
2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
5cm root ginger, peeled and cut into fine matchsticks
1 sirloin steak, sliced into thin strips
5-6 long cavolo nero leaves, finely shredded
2 teaspoons light soy sauce
1 teaspoon honey
1/4 teaspoon chinese five-spice powder
sea salt

Method

  1. Heat a little oil in a wok or wide pan. Throw in the garlic and ginger, along with a pinch of salt, and stir-fry for 2–3 minutes.
  2. Add the strips of steak and continue to stir-fry for 3–4 minutes. Add the cavolo nero and stir-fry for 1 minute more.
  3. Add the soy sauce, honey and five-spice powder and stir-fry for another 2 minutes, until the honey caramelizes and turns a little sticky.
