Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
2 avocado tree leaves, (see note)
1 green chilli, (such as jalapenos)
1 garlic clove
400g tinned borlotti beans, drained

Method

  1. Heat the avocado leaves over an open flame (e.g. a gas burner) until they release their oil – be careful not to burn them. Skip this step if you are using basil instead.
  2. Place the leaves in a food processor or blender along with the chilli, garlic and beans. Process and add just enough water to give the mixture a salsa consistency. Season to taste. It is best served immediately.

Note

  • If you can't find avocado trees leaves, 5 fresh basil leaves may be substituted.
