Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
3 oranges, cut in half, with skin on, and sliced 5 mm thick
375g caster sugar

Method

  1. Place the orange slices in a saucepan and cover with cold water. Simmer for about 1–1½ hours until the pith and skin are translucent. Discard the cooking liquid.
  2. Put the sugar and 250 ml water in a saucepan over medium heat and bring to the boil. Reduce the heat, add the orange slices and simmer for 30 minutes until the orange is tender and the syrup has reduced. Leave to cool in the syrup and store in the refrigerator.
