Ring on our doorbell at around 7.15 a.m. on any random weekday and it’s highly likely that you will find one of us in front of the stove, stirring a pan of oatmeal or porridge while the kids are banging their spoons on the table, chanting: ‘Vi er sultne, vi er sultne!’ (We are hungry, we are hungry!). I am not sure what kind of marathon they run in their sleep, but they always wake up starving. Oatmeal is great in that sense, as it only takes a few minutes to cook and is packed with energy. Finish with a drizzle of honey if you prefer it sweeter.
