Orange sesame smoothie with muddled raspberries

Here we mix sesame seed cream with juicy oranges and a spoonful of spicy cinnamon to create a very special and rather Moroccan-tasting smoothie. We then pour it over fresh muddled raspberries. Not only do the raspberries visually enhance this drink, they also add a delicious twist in flavour as you work your way to the bottom of the glass jar.

Ingredients

2 oranges, peeled
500ml sesame seed cream, see note
2-4 soft dates, pitted
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
pinch sea salt

To serve

fresh raspberries
ground cinnamon

Method

  1. Roughly chop the oranges and add them to a blender along with the sesame seed cream and the rest of the ingredients.
  2. Blend on a high speed until completely smooth. Taste and adjust the sweetness to your liking by adding more dates if necessary.
  3. Divide the raspberries between two medium-sized glass jars (one of which is featured in the photo) and muddle them slightly with the back of a spoon to release some of their juices.
  4. Pour the sesame smoothie on top of the muddled raspberries, finish with a sprinkling of cinnamon and serve.

Tip

  • To make the Sesame Seed Cream featured in the Orange Sesame Smoothie with Muddled Raspberries, use this recipe but add just 500 ml filtered water.
