Emiko Davies's Story
With an Australian father, a Japanese mother, an adolescence spent in China and a University degree from the United States, Emiko Davies, has spent most of her life living abroad, soaking up other cultures, languages and food. But for almost ten years now, Italy is the place she has called home. She came to Florence on a whim as a twenty year old art student with a suitcase and some broken Italian to spend three months in an etching studio. When she couldn't get Florence out of her head, a few years later, she returned, learning Italian and giving up tea for espresso. While studying art restoration and working in a darkroom, she met a particularly charming Tuscan named Marco, who later became her husband. And all the while, there was the food. It inspired her to buy a digital camera and start a food blog in 2010, documenting the most traditional Tuscan recipes.
Emiko now lives in Florence with her husband and their daughter. She continues to cook and write for her Italian food
