This trio of flavours creates a great toastie, hitting all the savoury spots. When biting into this, close your eyes and it will send you to a place of happiness.

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
2 pork sausages
1 tablespoon butter, at room temperature
2 slices sourdough or granary bread
1 tablespoon wholegrain mustard
35g grated mature cheddar
ketchup, to serve (optional)

Method

  1. Cook the sausages using your preferred method, then set them aside. Meanwhile, butter the outside of each slice of bread.
  2. Heat a frying pan over a medium heat and spread the unbuttered side of one of the slices of the bread with the mustard. Place the bread butter-side down in the pan.
  3. Cut the sausages in half lengthways and lay them on the mustard. Sprinkle the Cheddar over the sausages and press the other slice of bread on top, butter-side up.
  4. Toast for 2–3 minutes, then flip the sandwich over. Cook for another 3 minutes or until the cheese has fully melted and your sourdough is lovely and crisp. Alternatively, assemble the sandwich as described above and toast it in a panini press. Serve with ketchup on the side, if desired.
