This flavoursome sauce can be prepared in minutes for a special treat served with poached fruits, ice cream or a piece of cake. You can reduce the sugar if you find the sauce too sweet.

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
30g dark dutch cocoa powder
1 tablespoon sugar
2 1/2 tablespoons cream

Method

  1. Combine 100 ml water with the cocoa and sugar in a saucepan. Bring to the boil, stirring well to dissolve the cocoa. Stir in the cream and simmer for 15 seconds.
  2. Strain the sauce into a bowl and set aside to cool before storing it in the refrigerator.
