This dish is best accompanied with nockerli — a homemade pasta — and the garlic spinach recipe.

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
2kg chicken pieces
3 tablespoons olive oil
2 large onions, diced
1 tablespoon hungarian sweet paprika
2 tablespoons plain flour

Method

  1. Wash the chicken pieces and pat dry on paper towel.
  2. Heat the oil in a large saucepan over medium heat and sauté the onions until golden.
  3. Add the chicken pieces and reduce the heat to medium–low. Cover and cook for 30 minutes.
  4. Sprinkle the chicken with the paprika and season with sea salt and freshly ground black pepper. Using a wooden spoon, stir the flour through to thicken the mixture. Add a little water to create more sauce, if needed.
  5. Cover and cook for another 30 minutes, or until the chicken is tender and the meat comes away from the bone.
