Another nod to the Turkish side of my partner’s family, these baklava balls are not quite the real thing, admittedly. But they are still awesomely delicious and they totally have the general vibes of baklava. Namely, they’re sweet, nutty and filled with goodness.

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
155g almonds
100g pistachio nuts
150g walnut halves
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 pinch ground cloves
1/4 teaspoon orange blossom water
or rose water
150g raw honey
1 tablespoon finely grated lemon zest

Method

  1. Place the almonds, pistachio nuts and walnuts in your food processor or blender and pulse until the nuts are all roughly broken up. Add the cinnamon, cloves, orange blossom water, honey and lemon zest and blend until the mixture is combined and comes together.
  2. Take about a tablespoon of the mixture at a time and roll it into 2.5 cm balls. Place them in an airtight container and refrigerate or freeze them. These will keep for up to 2 weeks in the fridge, and a couple of months in the freezer.

NOTE

  • If you like, sprinkle or roll these in some extra crushed pistachios straight after you shape them into balls.
