These balls are inspired by my partner’s Turkish family, who make so many delicious things that I can’t eat (but I so want to eat!), because of my allergies. These taste delicious, look good and are as sweet as my beautiful Turkish in-laws.

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
3 teaspoons rosewater
200g dried cranberries
50g dried barberries
or goji berries
4 medjool dates, pitted, about 80 g
2 1/2 tablespoons raw honey
or maple syrup
150g pistachio nuts, plus 50g of crushed pistachio nuts for coating
50g linseed meal

Method

  1. Place all the ingredients, except the crushed pistachio nuts, into your food processor or blender and pulse them together until combined.
  2. Take about a tablespoon of the mixture at a time and roll it into 2.5 cm balls. Roll each in the crushed pistachios to lightly coat, then place the balls in an airtight container. Refrigerate or freeze them; these will keep for up to 2 weeks in the fridge, and a couple of months in the freezer.
