Next to the seaweed sesame crackers, these crackers are always on hand in my household. I love eating one with a smear of avocado, hummus and lemon. They are extremely crunchy, they are hardly any work to make and are a perfect regular cracker replacement.

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
250g flaxseeds
500ml water
1 teaspoon tamari
1 teaspoon turmeric
1/2 teaspoon salt

Method

  1. Mix all the ingredients in a bowl then cover and let sit for 1½ hours.
  2. Preheat the oven to 75°C. Line a baking tray with baking paper.
  3. Transfer the mixture from the bowl to the lined baking tray. Spread the mixture out evenly, about 5 mm thick. Make knife ridges in the mixture to mark out the sizes you want your crackers to be. Place in the oven for 12 hours or overnight.
  4. Once removed from the oven you should be able to break the flaxseed crackers into the shapes you marked out. Store in a jar for up to 1 month.
