This simple icing is used as a decorative finish for pastries and enriched sweet breads. Add the liquid very slowly to achieve the desired consistency, or you will find you have to add more and more icing sugar. It is easy to end up with twice as much icing as you actually need this way!

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
100g icing sugar
1-2 tablespoons warm water

Method

  1. Sift the icing sugar into a medium bowl.
  2. Add small amounts of water while mixing well to ensure there are no lumps, until the icing reaches a consistency that can be poured but will hold its shape as it dries.
