Now, I don’t usually direct people to touristy areas to eat. There is, however, one strip in Kuala Lumpur where, despite being definitely touristy, I love the food – and I’m not alone in my devotion as even local food fanatics come here. The street is called Jalan Alor, it’s right in the middle of the city and I head here for chicken wings. Wong Ah Wah is a massive restaurant at the end of the strip and the wings in question are their signature. There’s always a queue to get in. They cook their wings on a rotisserie over charcoal, so they’re charred on the outside, with juicy meat and smoky flavours inside. They go so well with a Tiger beer it’s not funny. You’ll come out of here smelling like barbecue but so happy you ate these wings. I promise you.
