Honey, golden syrup and a touch of molasses give these squares a distinctive flavour.

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
2 1/4 cups rolled oats
110g raw sugar
125g butter
2 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons golden syrup
1 teaspoon molasses, (optional)
1 tablespoon sultanas
2 tablespoons chopped dried apricots

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C. Grease a 30 cm x 20 cm lamington tin and line it with baking paper.
  2. In a bowl, combine the rolled oats and sugar. Melt the butter, add the honey, golden syrup and molasses and combine thoroughly. Pour over the oats and sugar. Add the sultanas and apricots and stir well. Spoon into the prepared tin and smooth the top.
  3. Bake for 20–25 minutes. Cut into squares while still warm and leave to cool in the tin.
