Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
3 cooking apples, peeled, cored and sliced
350g honey
1 tablespoon lemon juice
75g wholemeal flour
60g butter
55g brown sugar
1 teaspoon lemon zest, grated
2 teaspoons cinnamon

Method

  1. Place apples in a well-greased pie dish. Heat honey, add lemon juice and pour over apples. Put flour in a bowl and rub in butter until mixture resembles dry breadcrumbs.
  2. Add sugar and lemon zest and spread over apples. Sprinkle with cinnamon. Bake in a preheated moderately hot oven for 30–40 minutes, or until apples are tender and the topping crispy brown.
