Serve these next time you have a picnic and want a glamorous touch.

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
4 croissants, fresh or frozen
4 thin slices ham
or 8 slices prosciutto
4 slices emmental, gruyere or jarlsberg cheese

Method

  1. Warm and crisp croissants in a preheated moderate oven (180°C). Using a serrated knife, slice through each croissant from the outer curve, but don’t cut right through.
  2. Layer ham and cheese slices in the warm croissants, wrap in a clean dish towel and then wrap tightly in several sheets of newspaper to retain warmth. They should keep warm for about 3 hours.
