Spread on bread, toast or biscuits, peanut butter makes a good snack, and it combines with crisp bacon, celery, dates or raisins for wholesome sandwiches which carry well. Peanut butter cookies and cakes are other ways to enjoy its warm flavour. It is easy to make peanut butter at home in a blender or food processor.

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
1 1/2-3 tablespoons peanut oil
160g roasted peanuts
salt

Method

  1. If using a blender, put 1½ tablespoons oil into the container and, with motor running, add peanuts through hole in lid. Add more oil as necessary and, if nuts are not already salted, about ½ teaspoon salt. Process until you have consistency you want.
  2. If using a processor, put peanuts into the container and process, switching on and off, until coarsely chopped. With motor running, add oil through feed tube until you obtain consistency you want and, if nuts are not already salted, add about ½ teaspoon salt.
