Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
1 quantity * plain shortcrust pastry [rid:5323]
120g fresh bread or plain cake, crumbled
350g golden syrup
1 egg, beaten
1/2 lemon, zested and juiced

Method

  1. Roll out pastry dough and use to line a 20 cm pie plate. Combine remaining ingredients and pour into pastry case. Use any remaining pastry to decorate the tart with a lattice design.
  2. Bake in a preheated hot oven (200°C) for 10 minutes, then reduce heat to moderate (180°C) and bake for a further 20 minutes. Allow to cool, during which time filling will set.
