If you make your own sloe gin then this is a fun way to show it off at a party and it’s a great talking point. Otherwise, it’s not difficult to find good-quality sloe gin in the shops. Depending on how strong you want your jellies to be, you can up the gin and use less water.

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
1 tablespoon caster sugar
6g leaf gelatine
400ml sloe gin
thick jersey cream, (optional) to serve

Method

  1. Bring 200 ml water to the boil in a saucepan, add the sugar and stir until dissolved, then remove from the heat.
  2. Soak the gelatine leaves in a shallow bowl of cold water for a minute or so until soft. Squeeze out the excess water, then add to the sugar syrup and stir until melted. Stir in the sloe gin.
  3. Pour into shot glasses and place in the fridge for a couple of hours or so until the jelly is set. Serve topped with a spoonful of thick cream if you like.
