MRS: I’ve never been a fan of boxed cereals, so it was a revelation when I realised I could combine all the ingredients we already had in our cupboard to make a brilliant muesli. Feel free to swap out any of the ingredients here for others you may have in your cupboard … cranberries, dried apricots, pistachio nuts and almonds would all work well. Also, remember that old nuts and seeds will taste stale, so buy these in small amounts and use them regularly to ensure you have a fresh mixture.

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
350g rolled (porridge) oats
100g sultanas
60g dried pear slices, finely chopped
50g coconut flakes
50g chia seeds
50g pepitas (pumpkin seeds)
30g sesame seeds
100g cashew nuts

Method

  1. Mix all the ingredients together in a large bowl, then transfer to an airtight container or jar and store for up to 1 month. Serve with your choice of milk and fresh seasonal or poached fruits.
