MR: One of my closest friends, ‘old man’ Steve Rogers, came up with this idea and it is, quite frankly, genius.

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
3 garlic cloves, crushed
1 tablespoon salt flakes
45g unsalted butter, softened
1 tablespoon chopped parsley
1 demi-baguette, halved lengthways
100g Bolognese
100g grated cheddar
chilli sauce, to serve (optional)

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 190°C.

Mix together the garlic, salt, softened butter and parsley in a bowl with a fork until well combined.

Smear the cut sides of the baguette halves with the garlic butter, then sandwich the two halves back together. Wrap the baguette in aluminium foil and bake in the oven for 8 minutes.

Remove the baguette from the oven and unwrap and separate the halves. Smear the bolognese evenly over both and scatter over the cheese, then return to the oven and cook for a further 7–9 minutes, or until the cheese has melted. Remove from the oven, cut into pieces and top with a splash or two of chilli sauce, if you like. Boom.
