There are lots of different recipes out there for a bicicletta, but with this one you’ll still be able to ride your bike home afterwards.

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
60ml pink grapefruit juice
60ml campari
60ml gin
ice
soda water, to top up

Method

  1. Mix the grapefruit juice, Campari and gin together and divide between long glasses. Top up the glasses up with ice, fill with soda water, stir and serve.

Medicinal Benefit

  • Grapefruit shares much with other citrus fruits; namely, it’s rich in both dietary fibre and vitamin C (ascorbic acid) and it contains many other vitamins, minerals and essential oils. Pink grapefruit is high in pectin, which prevents cholesterol absorption in the gut. It’s also rich in the anti-inflammatory, antioxidant nutrient called lycopene, which gives the juicy flesh its pink colour; this is the same substance that makes tomatoes red. It’s believed that lycopene has anti-ageing and anticancer properties. Some sources claim it even offers weak protection from sunburn by acting like a sort of internal sunscreen.
