Ingredients

15ml angostura bitters
15ml orgeat syrup
15ml lime juice
15ml grapefruit juice
15ml fino sherry
30ml whisky
ice cubes

Decoration

1/2 lime
1 sugar cube
overproof rum

Method

  1. Pour all the ingredients into the shaker and shake vigorously until frost appears on the metal tumbler, then filter into a long drink glass filled with crushed glass.
  2. Decorate with half a lime in which you have placed a sugar cube generously soaked in overproof rum (75%) which can be flambéed to dramatic effect in the dark.
  3. Bitter and fruity, this is a great cocktail for winter evenings, when the sun makes itself scarce.
