Sweet and sour green beans

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
450g green beans
2 tablespoons butter
1-2 teaspoons sugar, to taste
3 tablespoons cider vinegar
salt
freshly ground black pepper

Method

  1. Cut of the ends off the green beans and remove any strings along the sides, then cut into 4cm lengths. Steam for 10–15 minutes or until they are tender.
  2. Melt the butter in a large frying pan and stir in the sugar and vinegar. Add the green beans and stir well, so they are evenly coated in the sauce. Season with salt and pepper and simmer for 3–4 minutes to blend the flavours. Serve at once.
