A batida is essentially a blended fruit cocktail and can be made using mangoes, strawberries or a combination of mixed berries. Substitute vodka if cachaça is unavailable.

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
1 1/2 cups cachaca
1.2kg mango pulp, roughly chopped
1/2 cup tinned condensed milk
1/4 cup lime juice
4 cups crushed ice, plus extra to fill the jug

Method

  1. Combine all of the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.
  2. Transfer to a jug and top up with additional ice before pouring into individual glasses and serving.

Variation

  • To make a strawberry version, simply replace the mango pulp with 900 g hulled strawberries and omit the lime juice.
