Packed with colourful fruits, such as orange, banana, apple, strawberries and grapes, this white wine sangria looks beautiful served in a punchbowl or large jug. It needs to be made in advance to allow the sugar and fruits to infuse and mellow the wine. It is light and refreshing and makes a lovely addition to a South American barbecue.

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
2 x 750 ml bottles dry white wine, such as sauvignon blanc
3 cups soda water
1/4 cup caster sugar
2 lemons, juiced
2 oranges, peeled, segmented and diced
2 bananas, peeled and sliced
2 green apples, quartered, cored and thinly sliced
10 strawberries, hulled and sliced
2 cups grapes, halved and seeded
1 small handful mint leaves
2 cups crushed ice

Method

  1. Combine the wine, soda water, sugar and lemon juice in a large punchbowl and stir to dissolve the sugar. Add the fruit and mint, cover, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
  2. Just before you are ready to serve, add the crushed ice then pour into serving glasses.
