Hot apple drink with Calvados

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
1kg apples, such as Cox’s Orange Pippins
100g caster sugar
1 litre water
1 long cinnamon stick
4 short cinnamon sticks
100ml calvados
4 mint sprigs

Method

  1. Cut the apples into four wedges and place in a large saucepan with the sugar, water and long cinnamon stick. Bring to the boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 30 minutes.
  2. Strain the apple-flavoured liquid through a piece of muslin. Pour it back into the cleaned pan and bring to the boil. Add the Calvados and turn off the heat.
  3. Pour into four heatproof glasses and serve each with a short cinnamon stick and a mint sprig.
