Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
300g granulated sugar
2-4 tablespoons water
Tiny amount food colouring pastes

Method

  1. Line baking trays with baking paper.
  2. Place the sugar and water in a bowl and mix well until you get a damp sandy texture.
  3. Divide the mixture into separate bowls to make different colours and add a small amount of food colouring paste to each bowl. Mix well, with a cocktail stick, until combined thoroughly.
  4. Tip the coloured sugars onto a clean board and press firmly with your hands to the depth of 1 cm ensuring that the sugar is compact.
  5. Using different shaped cutters, cut out shapes and gently push out the sugar onto the prepared trays. Continue until all the sugar is used up. Leave to dry overnight in a cool dry place. Store in an airtight container in a cool dry place for up to a month.
