Greg and Lucy Malouf are the authors of six beautiful and award-winning cookbooks, and in November this year Hardie Grant Books will be publishing their seventh: New Feast.

New Feast will feature over 120 modern Middle Eastern vegetarian recipes. Lucy Malouf explains that, “Middle Eastern food very much lends itself to grain-based dishes and vegetable-based dishes and fruit dishes, so the meat really has not been missed at all”.

The Middle East – from North Africa and Moorish Spain, through Turkey, Lebanon, Syria and Jordan to Iran and the Arabian Peninsula – has long had a vibrant tradition of home-style vegetarian cuisine – from their abundant fresh salads, dips and breads to a diverse collection of delicious and hearty main meals. Greg and Lucy’s approach to vegetarian food comes from their love of traditional Middle Eastern flavour combinations and the importance of colour and texture. The recipes are new interpretations of Middle Eastern Food, inspired by the spirit of generosity and sharing that characterises the region.

We visited Lucy’s beautiful home in Kent in the UK to take a sneak peek behind the scenes with Greg, photographer Alan Benson and stylist David Morgan.
