Women made great bootleggers. The social mores of the day, and often state laws, forbade male police officers or treasury agents from searching a woman’s body, which made way for some very interesting corsetry. Even having a woman ride along in a bootlegging car meant that the car was less likely to be stopped.

The French 75 is an enigma; it is refreshing and elegant, yet strong enough to be named after a 75 mm machine gun used during the First World War. It was said to be a favourite of dipsomaniacal Lost Generation types like Hemingway and F. Scott Fitzgerald.

A collection of cocktails where champagne is the refreshing ingredient.
