Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
1.5kg potatoes
50g butter, diced
2-3 tablespoons hot milk
salt and freshly ground black pepper

Method

  1. Peel the potatoes and chop them into even-sized pieces. Place the potatoes in a large saucepan and cover with water. Bring to the boil, reduce the heat and cook for 12–15 minutes, until tender.
  2. Drain the potatoes well, then return them to the saucepan and place over a low heat. Warm the potatoes for 1–2 minutes, shaking the pan occasionally to evaporate the excess moisture.
  3. Mash the potatoes well and then stir in the butter, milk and season with the salt and pepper.
