South East Asian Food

This recipe is a good example of a local adaptation of a mainland Chinese recipe.

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
4 shallots, finely sliced
or 1/2 brown onion, finely chopped
1 hot chillies, seeded then finely sliced, to taste
a few raw prawns, shelled and deveined, (optional)
100g minced pork
350g cabbage, finely shredded
salt
light soya sauce, to taste

Method

  1. Heat the oil in a wok. Fry the shallots and chilli until they are soft. Add the prawns and pork and stir-fry until they change colour. Then add the cabbage and season with salt. Stir-fry until the cabbage is wilted but still slightly crisp. Add soya sauce to taste.
