Prahran Market is set to go truffle-mad this winter thanks to Truffle Melbourne, a favourite event on the city’s culinary calendar now in its third year.

Truffle Melbourne is the largest truffle festival outside of Europe, and it’s hosting more than 20 urban and rural truffle events during June, July and August 2016.

The festivities will kick off at the Prahran Market. A two-day line-up bursting with free events that include cooking demonstrations with top chefs Guy Grossi, Phillipe Mouchel, Paul Wilson and Nicky Reimer, and mock truffle hunts with truffle dogs. Food and travel photography workshops will also be held across the weekend.

Feeling hungry? You’re in luck. Truffle Melbourne has collaborated with market stallholders to offer festivalgoers an indulgent spread of truffle-inspired fare in the Truffle Marketplace. Think truffled crab and mac ‘n’ cheese bombs from Meat Maiden; truffle and cheese toasties by Madame Truffles; rich truffle cassoulet, truffled chicken terrine or traditional English pork pies with truffled mushy peas from the team at Piper Food Co. And for the sweet-tooths, there'll be fresh crepes filled with saccharine truffled sugar.

Fresh truffles and truffled products from Australia and around the world will also be available – perfect for those who leave feeling inspired to whip up their own truffle-laden plates.
