Take a peek inside the book launch of Alimentari in Collingwood, where Linda and Paul Jones unveiled their gorgeous new cookbook over a relaxed Mediterranean feast.

Alimentari is a dining institution in Melbourne. For close to 20 years, Linda and Paul Jones have been feeding Fitzroy locals at their Brunswick Street eatery and deli, dishing out vibrant salads, sandwiches, roasts and desserts with a Mediterranean and Middle Eastern accent. In recent years, they opened a second store on Smith Street, in neighbouring Collingwood, and it was here that the dynamic couple chose to launch their stunning new cookbook, Alimentari, last Wednesday night.

To celebrate the launch, Linda and Paul hosted a relaxed gathering for book sellers, family, friends and the crack team at Hardie Grant Books who produced this gorgeous collection.

The marble bar surrounding the open kitchen was piled high with roast meats, including that show-stopping suckling pig and fall-apart roast lamb, bowls of houmous and baba ghanooj, and zesty salads, plus olives, flatbreads and ridiculously good roast potatoes.

For dessert, we helped ourselves to peanut butter brownies, crème caramel and tumblers of tiramisu made by Linda’s mum. We can’t wait to try out these recipes in the coming weeks – take a look for yourself, as the whole Alimentari collection is now live on Cooked.

Trust us, this is one book you’ll return to time and again.
